Under MNREGA, the proposal of guaranteeing employment for at least 200 days in place of hundred days in Uttarakhand has been sent to the Center. The State Government has also requested the Center to allow farming in MNREGA.
Under the MNREGA at this time in the state, a guarantee of providing work for at least a hundred days. There was a demand from many social organizations that this should be increased to 200 days. According to the same government, this proposal has been made and sent to the central government. Along with this, the state has also requested the central government to add farming to it. The number of people joining MNREGA in the state has now crossed 5 lakh.
The state coordinator Mohammad Aslam said in his statement that about 5.10 lakh workers have joined the scheme. Normally, about 10 lakh laborers are added every year under MNREGA in the state. This time, due to the lockdown issued due to Corona, the work under MNREGA was started from April 20. The most special thing is that this time around 60,000 new workers are associated with this scheme. Most of them are migrants. Compared to the month of July last year, more than one lakh laborers are associated with this scheme. This scheme is going to provide immense relief for the workers.
