After being removed from the captaincy of the South Africa cricket team from all three formats, Faf Duplessis believes that he still has the hunger and passion to play for the country. Duplessis wants him to play all three formats of Test, ODI and T20 for South Africa in 2020-21.

In an audio interview released on Monday by Cricket South Africa, Duplessis said, "I think I can contribute a lot to the team right now and I still like representing the country." There is no dearth in my passion for playing in all three formats of the game. While staying away from the game, I made sure that my hunger for cricket was maintained. The biggest thing for the player is that he loves the game.

Duplessis handed over the captaincy of the ODI team to wicketkeeper Quinton Dickock, while his successor in the Test is yet to be announced. The veteran cricketer said that the covid-19 epidemic made him realize how much he loves the game. He said, "Like everyone, I am not allowed to go out but I made some changes in my garage before the lockdown which kept me busy. I am however eager to go out and will practice outside after getting some relief from the restrictions. ''
