Twitter recently confirmed some fake accounts with the same followers due to its recently launched public verification program. This was disclosed by data experts. It was found that no verified account with blue badges had shared a single tweet and two accounts used stock photos for their profile photos.
According to reports, Twitter has now permanently suspended some fake accounts verified by mistake. We had mistakenly allowed verification applications of some unauthorized (fake) accounts, the micro-blogging platform said in a statement. We have now permanently suspended the accounts under consideration under our platform manipulation and spam policy and removed their verified badges, the statement said.
Fake verified accounts were viewed by Twitter user Conspiracy Noterno, a data expert who focuses on resolution, which verified 6 newly created accounts. In a tweet in this regard, it tagged the said accounts and said that just meet them, a group of Blue-Check Verified Twitter accounts created on June 16, 2021. No one has tweeted yet and everyone has about 1000 followers (and most have the same followers). He said, out of these 6 accounts, two have photos of persons as their profile photos.
