Hyderabad: Even after demonetization, the black business of printing and circulation of fake notes has not stopped completely. Hyderabad's South Zone Task Force team along with Chandrayangutta police arrested two people, including a woman, on Monday (February 20) for printing fake currency notes in the old city. According to the police, both the accused were involved in the printing and circulation of fake notes and sending the fake notes to Telangana and other states, fake notes worth Rs 27 lakh have been recovered from their possession. Along with this, the police team has also seized laptops, printers, laminators, green paper, etc.

Based on the information, police teams arrested the accused from Chandrayangutta and recovered fake currency and other materials from them. Police have told that the main suspect, in this case, is the brother of the woman accused, the brother of the accused woman along with his sister had got fake notes of Rs 500 printed by buying material for printing notes. Police said the accused's brother Ramesh Babu was arrested by the state police in January for supplying fake currency to Gujarat. Later, Rameshwari, sister of prime accused Ramesh Babu, approached another accused and an auto-rickshaw driver Hasan Bin Hamood, who got her shifted to Chandrayangutta along with fake Indian currency notes and printing material, police said.

According to the police, the main accused Ramesh Babu was a car mechanic, his income stopped during the lockdown, and he could not survive, after that, he started the work of printing and disseminating fake currency after getting information. In September 2022, he was arrested by the Gopalapuram police of Hyderabad, then met Hasan bin Hamood, accused of murder, in jail. After being released from jail, the accused Ramesh Babu, along with his sister Rameshwari and Hasan bin Hamood, again started the business of printing fake notes.
