Domestic flights resumed from Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Also, charter aircraft were also allowed to operate. Since then, rich families and people prefer to travel alone in planes to avoid the coronavirus. Recently a similar case has come up. When a family booked the Airbus A320 for only four-members. Those going to Delhi included a wife, two children and a woman working in their house.
This 180 seater aircraft was leased by the Western India based company. Industry insiders say that the cost of this entire journey can be around 10 lakh rupees. The aircraft flew from Delhi with only crew members on Monday at 9.05 am and reached Bhopal at 10.30 am. After this, the aircraft took four passengers from Bhopal airport at 11.30 am and reached Delhi at 12.55 am. An airline official said that many people and companies here want to avoid huge congestion due to Coronavirus. Since the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) in India is very low, at this time airlines and charter companies are able to offer reasonable rates.
It costs four to five lakh rupees an hour to charter an A320. Thus, it will cost 16 to 18 lakh rupees to charter between Delhi and Mumbai. The price depends on the price of ATF. Charter industry insiders said that the day before a ban on international flights was to be announced in India, a family of three had booked a charter plane from Europe to India. The cost of this trip was about 80 lakh rupees.
