The Home Minister of the Indian state of Haryana wanted to provide powers to the SET. The Advocate General's comment has disappointed him. So now he has to sit on the SET investigation. The SET will now investigate this entire case.
When asked about the SET for investigation in the Kharkhoda liquor case, Home Minister Anil Vij said that in this case, he had demanded the formation of SIT (Special Investigation Team) in place of SET. Also asked for an opinion from LR and Advocate General Haryana. And both of them gave their opinion negative, but Advocate General Haryana has the opinion that SET can conduct a full investigation in the case.
In his statement, he said that in this case also there is a provision in section 32 of CRPC. He said that the SET in its report, what is the complaint, whether it is a criminal case or a departmental inquiry, the investigation will start only after its report comes and action will be taken against whoever is guilty. In the case of SET not getting the power of inquiry, Home Minister Anil Vij said that in this case, he had demanded the formation of SIT in place of SET. Also, an opinion was sought from the Advocate General in this matter.
