Lalita Lajmi, sister of Indian writer late Guru Dutt and popular artist, has died at the age of 90. A self-taught artist, Lalita played a small role in the 2007 Aamir Khan-starrer Taare Zameen Par and the superstar played an art teacher in it.
Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation shared the news of Lalita Lajmi's death on social media. Sharing an old picture of Lalita and her creation, they wrote in the caption, "We are deeply saddened by the news of the demise of artist Lalita Lajmi. Lajmi was a self-learned artist with a keen interest in classical dance.''
An element of nostalgia and performance, as seen in her artwork Dance of Life and Death. Lalita's earlier works drew inspiration from her personal life and observations, while her later works depicted the hidden tension between man and woman. Her works were also influenced by films made by his brother Guru Dutt, Satyajit Ray and Raj Kapoor. Lalita Lajmi was born in 1932 in Kolkata, West Bengal. Lalita's father was a poet and her mother also used to write in many languages. Along with this, Lalita was also deeply interested in classical music. Lalitha had organized art exhibitions in many countries including India, Paris, London and Netherlands. Bollywood veteran stars have paid tribute to Lalita Lajmi on her death.
