Renowned Urdu litterateur Gopi Chand Narang has passed away. Narang, 91, breathed his last in America. In fact, Narang was born in Balochistan in the year 1931 and Gopi Chand Narang, the author of 57 books, was also decorated with Padma Bhushan and Sahitya Akademi Award. Let us tell you that some of his major works include Urdu Afsana Ravayat and Masail, Iqbal Ka Fun, Amir Khusrau's Hindavi Kalam, Jadidit Ke Baad. In fact, Narang had command over six languages ​​of the Indian subcontinent including Hindi, Urdu, Balochi Pashto.

Let us tell you that apart from Urdu, Gopichand Narang has also written books in Hindi and English. He did his graduation from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University and after that he was also a teacher here. Along with this, apart from Padma Bhushan, Narang has also been decorated with the third highest decoration of Pakistan 'Sitar-e-Imtiaz'. Let us tell you that Gopi Chand Narang was born on 11 February 1931 in Dukki, Balochistan and after doing PG in Urdu from Delhi University in 1954, he completed his PhD in 1958 with a scholarship from the Ministry of Education. Pro. Narang started teaching Urdu literature at St. Stephen's College.

At the same time, after some time he joined the Urdu Department of Delhi University and here in 1961 he became a reader. At the same time, in the year 1990, the then President Venkataraman gave Prof. Gopi Chand Narang was awarded the Padma Shri. With this, in the year 1963, he contributed to the University of Wisconsin as a visiting professor. At the same time, in the year 1968, the same university called him to teach and apart from this he has also taught at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and Oslo University in Norway. Simultaneously, in the year 2012, the then Vice President Hamid Ansari appointed Prof. Gopi Chand was awarded the Murti Devi Award. At the same time, in the year 1974, Narang took over the post of Professor and Head of Department in Jamia Millia Islamia.

In fact, he taught here for about 12 years and after that in 1986 again started teaching from Delhi University. Yes, and he worked here till 1995 and after that Delhi University made him Professor Emeritus in 2005.
