Chennai: Veteran singer SP Balasubramanian passes away today. He was undergoing treatment at the hospital since August 5 after being infected with the coronavirus. On Thursday, the hospital issued a statement stating that their condition got very critical. He has been placed on the life support system. The hospital had said that his health is constantly deteriorating.

On Thursday, MGM Healthcare of Chennai had issued a bulletin stating that SP Balasubramanian's health has deteriorated significantly, he is on the life support system. The bulletin stated that, "SP Balasubramaniam was admitted to MGM Healthcare on 5 August. He is still on ECMO and other life support. His health has deteriorated in the last 24 hours. He has kept on life support only. More is needed. His condition is very critical. Teams of hospital experts are constantly monitoring his health. "
