Bengaluru: Renowned theatre artist and well-known singer Dr Subhadramma Mansur died on Wednesday night. Her family has given this information. The singer was 81 years old and has two sons and a daughter in her family. Dr Mansur was honoured with several awards including the prestigious Karnataka Rajyotsava. Her family said that Dr Subhadramma was having difficulty in breathing last night, after which she was admitted to a hospital but during this time she died on the way.
Condoling her death, CM BS Yeddyurappa said that Dr Mansur has contributed to the theatre world for five decades. He has also remembered her contribution to music as a noted singer. The veteran theatre artist of Ballari got recognition from the role played in mythological plays.
After this, she got recognition to bring the Mahabharata's character Draupadi to life. The role of Hemareddy Malamma played by Dr Subhadramma left a deep impression on the audience. Dr Mansur was conferred with several awards including Rajyotsava Award, Drama Academy and Gubbi Veeranna Award and honorary degree by Sri Krishna Devarai University.
