Farmers announce suspension of agitation, but place these conditions before government

New Delhi: The United Kisan Morcha has announced suspension of farmers' protest against new agricultural laws, but has said that the agitation has not ended. United Kisan Morcha leader Gurnam Singh Chadhuni announced the cancellation of the agitation and placed his demands before the government. Tell me, the Central Government wants the farmers to leave the dharna and go back home, though the farmers want to continue the agitation till all the demands are met.

"We are suspending the agitation, not ending it," said Joint Kisan Morcha leader Gurnam Singh Chadhuni. Only when the Government agrees to everything will they end the dharna. At the same time, Chadhuni also demanded the government to withdraw the case against all agitating farmers. State that the 5 member High Power Committee of The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) has convened an emergency meeting and the meeting is being held in New Delhi. The meeting is attended by Balbir Rajewal, Gurnam Chadhuni, Yudhvir Singh, Ashok Ranle and Shiv Kumar Kakka. The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) will meet at Singhu border after which a decision can be taken to withdraw the agitation.

The Centre had sent a written proposal to the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Tuesday for the first time after it announced the suspension of three agricultural laws and setting up of a committee on other issues including framing of kannu on MSP. It mentions complying with all the demands of the farmers, but the front leaders welcomed the proposal and sent it back to the government with three major problems. Farmers have expressed hope that the government will respond by Wednesday after sympathetically considering their problems.
