Chandigarh: Groundwater is at its lowest level in many states of the country. Haryana is also included in those states. The state government is becoming strict about saving water. The state government is adopting many types of options to save water in the state. Instead of paddy, we are getting Rs 7,000 per acre for sowing other crops. At the same time, financial assistance of Rs 4,000 per acre is being given to the farmers on direct sowing. Apart from this, strict action is being taken against the farmers who plant paddy before time in the state.
If the farmers violate it even after warning and plant paddy before June 15, a joint team of village secretary, patwari and agriculture department will go to the field and destroy the paddy crop in the field. Not only this, farmers will also be charged Rs 10,000 per acre for planting paddy before time. Planting paddy before June 15 in the state will be considered a violation of the Preservation of Soil Water Act 2009. There is a provision for both punishment and fine for violation of this Act. If the farmer has to avoid punishment and fine, then avoid planting paddy before July 15.
At the same time, to improve the declining groundwater level in the state, the government is trying to reduce the area of paddy, for this, incentives are also being given to the farmers for cultivating other crops. Apart from this, farmers are being advised to adopt drip method for irrigation.
