FATF warns Pakistan over terror- funding, will be put in blacklist

Islamabad: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said that the flow of capital into the country could be affected if the Paris-based Financial Action Task Force (FATF) puts Pakistan on the blacklist. The FATF, which monitors terrorism financing internationally, has placed Pakistan on the gray list for an extended period of time till February 2020.

With this, the FATF has warned Pakistan that if it fails to comply with the remaining 22 points in the list of 27 questions it will be put on the blacklist. Pakistan submitted its answers to 22 questions to the FATF on 6 December. The IMF has stated in its staff level report that in the event of FATF putting Pakistan on the blacklist, the flow of capital in the country will stop and investment will also come down. The report was finalized during the IMF team's visit to Pakistan.

The IMF report clearly states that the IMF program in Pakistan is at risk due to both domestic and external reasons. The IMF and FATF have warned Pakistan many times about Terror funding in the past, but still, Pakistan is not deterring from its antics.
