On 27 February, a court in Chitrakoot district sentenced her husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law to life imprisonment on Friday for killing a married woman by setting her on fire, and the three are also fined Rs 10,000 each.

Prosecuting officer Gopal Das said on Saturday that Babu Raidas of Jamalpur village in Banda district had lodged an FIR in Karvi Kotwali that on 18 July 2016 in Purva her daughter Susheela was raped by her husband. Ramamilan alias Omprakash, mother-in-law, and father-in-law all three killed her by setting on fire. In this case, the police had filed a charge sheet in the court.

After hearing the arguments of the prosecution and defense advocates, Additional District and Sessions Court (Accelerated) Judge Satyendra Pandey sentenced the woman's husband Ramamilan alias Omprakash, mother-in-law, and father-in-law to life imprisonment on Friday and 10k rupees fine on all three.
