Jaipur: A 46-year-old man and his young son were allegedly shot dead by a criminal after a scuffle in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan on Sunday. Police said, the accused who opened fire on them was also shot and is being treated. Two policemen have been suspended for negligence in the case. Police said a verbal duel broke out between Surendra Singh and Lakhan Sharma on Saturday night after which the duo slapped each other in a scuffle. After which Assistant Sub Inspector of Police Vijay Pal and Head Constable Mansingh of Kotwali police station who were patrolling at night rushed to the spot on receiving information and explained and separated the two.

After which members from both sides gathered at Surendra Singh's residence in Subhash Nagar on Sunday morning to resolve the case. Police said Lakhan Sharma's brother Dilawar shot at Surendra Singh and his son Sachin (17) during the meeting. Dilawar himself then informed the police and said that he was shot at by Surendra but when the police reached the spot, it was found that Dilawar started firing at Surendra and Sachin. Dilawar was also shot in the leg. Police rushed the trio to district Hosital where doctors declared Surendra and Sachin dead.

The family staged a protest outside the hospital and blocked the road when the father and son died. Acting promptly, Bharatpur Superintendent of Police Devendra Kumar suspended the Assistant Sub Inspector of Police and Head Constable for negligence. It has been further stated that the bodies have been handed over to the family members after postmortem and Dilawar is undergoing treatment in police custody.
