20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has dropped out of the top 20 in the ATP rankings for the first time in 21 years. The 40-year-old Federer, who did not play in the Australian Open, has slipped to 30th position with a loss of 13 places. This is the first time since April 2001 that the Swiss star has not been able to break into the top twenty. Due to knee surgery, Federer is not going to play any tournament since Wimbledon. Federer underwent two knee operations in February and May 2020. Since then, he has also faced the challenge in just 5 tournaments. Austria's Dominic Thiem has slipped 21 places to 37th.

Djokovic remains at the top and Nadal at number five: Serbia's Novak Djokovic has held his place at the top for a record 358 weeks despite not playing in the first Grand Slam of the year. Australian Open runner-up Daniil Medvedev has moved up to the second place, Germany's Alexander Zverev third, Greece's Tsitsipas fourth and record 21-time Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal, to 5th.
