With the state (and the country) in the grip of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tamil Nadu government has reached out to film stars to create awareness among the public about staying safe. It has come out with three videos, featuring Sivakarthikeyan, Jayam Ravi and Sathyaraj, in which the actors spell out the ways to remain safe and urge the public to get vaccinate.

In the video, Sivakarthikeyan says, "The corona pandemic has been spreading fast and in addition to scaring us, it has also resulted in the loss of many lives. Our Tamil Nadu government and the Health Department have been taking several steps to contain it. They have also put in place rules, and this video is to share a few of those. One of the biggest is to get vaccinated. I have taken my first dose of vaccine. Step out of your house only if it is absolutely essential. And when you do, follow social distancing, keep your hands clean, and most importantly, always wear a mask. All these are known to you. It is our duty to follow these rules. More than that, it would be our tribute to the frontline warriors who are fighting against coronavirus despite the risk to their lives and putting our safety before their family. We can all collectively recover from this situation. Let's join hands and create a corona-free Tamil Nadu. Let's protect ourselves and our country. Let's conquer corona and save people."

Jayam Ravi also echoes the same views in his video. "Everyone please wear a mask; it protects not only but also other from coronavirus. Mask saves lives. Also, follow social distancing. Wash your hands and keep them clean. Use sanitiser. Let's us all join together and defeat corona," he states.

Meanwhile, Sathyaraj also suggests that people stop attending events to ensure everyone's safety, and also advises that people consult with doctors and get vaccinated at the earliest. He says, "This is a difficult time. We should all take steps to come out of this. The three things that can help contain corona are: masks, social distancing and using sanitisers to clean our hands and surroundings. I'd like to add one more to this. Generally, we have events in our families, both celebratory and mourning. We end up attending these events because we are more concerned about what our relatives will think of us. To avoid this, I suggest that those who invite their near and dear ones should request them to not come in person for the safety of everyone. We have many communication devices today. Corona is not going to keep us locked down for ever. Many vaccines have started to be manufactured, so in the next six months to one year, the situation will change. Please get vaccinated taking the advise of doctors. Don't go by information that you receive on WhatsApp. That's very important. We have got a very good government with good ministers and officials. We need to join hands with them and protect ourselves and also the public. I wish we set an example to India and even the world."
