Guwahati: On August 31, the final list of NRC was released. 19 lakh people were excluded in this list. Advocates of NRC All Assam Students Union (AASU) are not satisfied with this list. They have decided to go to the Supreme Court against this. AASU has been the leader of the Assam movement. AASU is a party to the Assam Accord signed in 1985, which provides for the identification and removal of illegal foreigners residing in Assam.

In Assam, the work of updating the NRC is being done under the supervision of the High Court so that only genuine Indians are included. Asu general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi said, "We are not happy at all." The update process seems to have some flaws. We believe that NRC is incomplete. We will appeal to the Supreme Court to address the shortcomings of NRC.

The original petitioner of NRC raised questions on the process, said this

Gogoi told a press conference here that the final figures did not match the figures announced by the administration on several occasions. Significantly, the last NRC was released online on Saturday. The names of 19 lakh people are excluded from this. There is nothing to do with NRC. Both its sides and opposition are not happy with the last list. Senior Minister and senior leader of Assam Government Himanta Sarma has also expressed his unhappiness about going to court.
