New Delhi: In the budget presented on February 1, the insurance sector is likely to get a big relief. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may announce to increase the limit of foreign investment in the insurance sector. Experts related to the insurance sector say that in addition to this, the Finance Minister can also make some other big announcements. However, the most discussed is about increasing the limit of foreign investment.

In the year 2014, the then government had increased the FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) limit in the insurance sector from 26 percent to 49 percent. The foreign investment limit is still 49 percent. According to media reports, there may be an announcement to increase the FDI limit from 49 percent to 74 percent in the budget.

According to media reports, it was being told that if the FDI limit in the insurance sector is raised to 74 percent, then the ownership of the companies will go into foreign hands. To solve the same problem, the government can now make changes in the ownership regulation. After this change, even after the FDI limit is increased, the rights of Indian promoters in domestic companies will remain. Through this regulation, a balance will be created between the Indian promoter and the foreign shareholders.
