New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said on Saturday that the central government is working on other measures to speed up the slowing economy. She went to attend a conference, during which she addressed the people present there and said that the government has taken many measures during August and September to handle the economy.
Nirmala said that apart from this, public sector banks have disbursed about 5 lakh crore rupees in the last 2 months to promote consumption. Sitharaman further said, "These are the ways in which consumption can be promoted. We are adopting a direct approach and also spending on infrastructure, which ultimately reaches major industries, labor, etc. ''
Some other measures can be taken to speed up economic activity, Sitharaman said that the government is working on it. In relation to Goods and Services Tax (GST), Sitharaman said that the GST Council will take a decision regarding the structure of taxes. The Finance Minister said that in the end, taxes have to be more logical.
