New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit India's first International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) at GIFT City on Saturday, November 20, to meet with stakeholders.
The focus of the discussions will be on the role of GIFT-IFSC as a gateway to global financial services for Indian corporates within India, luring global financial business to India, and India's rise as a Fintech global hub, according to multiple tweets from the finance ministry.
"FM Smt. @nsitharaman will lead a team of seven Secretaries from @FinMinIndia and Ministry of Corporate Affairs to GIFT City, Gandhinagar tomorrow to discuss topics of development and growth of India's maiden International Financial Services Centre (IFSC)," it said.
Sitharaman will visit key facilities and speak with various IFSC stakeholders. The visit demonstrates the government's commitment to GIFT-IFSC becoming India's leading financial services centre and the major gateway for global financial flows in and out of the country. According to the government, the discussions will bring together a convergence of ideas and methods for the speedier development of GIFT-IFSC, which was established with the goal of onshoring offshore financial activities and so represents the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
