Guwahati : DSE (Directorate of Secondary Education), Assam will provide financial assistance to schools to be included in the proposed 'Heritage' list of educational institutions in the state. A list of such schools is being prepared. Financial assistance will be provided to these shortlisted schools. This step has been taken as a follow-up to the budget promise of the present government. A DSE official said, “We have already collected the list from the districts.
Many schools across the state were established during the British Raj, and there are many other schools which have already crossed 75 years. Among them. Se al are heritage buildings" The official elaborated, “We have also started drafting guidelines for this purpose. However, not all such schools will be eligible for the scheme.
Various aspects will be taken into consideration for the school-selection process.” DSE is also undertaking the process of upgradation of the school. The Inspector of Schools has been directed to submit the details. The process is expected to be completed by the next academic session.
