Samajwadi Party candidate Azam Khan caught on camera making disgusting comments while railing against his BJP rival Jaya Prada in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur constituency. Police have lodged an FIR against Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan for his 'khaki underwear’ comment against actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada. National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Rekha Sharma termed Khan's remarks against the actor as "extremely disgraceful". Reacting to Khan's remarks, she said that the NCW would also be requesting the Election Commission to bar him from contesting elections.

Lacerated for the comments, he claimed today the words were not against Jaya Prada as he never took her name. On Monday, He said that he will not contest elections if anyone can prove that he named the actor-turned-politician while making “khakhi underwear” remark.
Azam Khan, who is in the fray from Rampur on the SP ticket, had made the remark in the presence of former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav and other senior party leaders. He said, "I brought her [Jaya Prada] to Rampur. You are a witness that I did not allow anyone to touch her body. It took you 17 years to identify her real face but I got to know in 17 days that she wears khaki underwear." Azam Khan also accused the media of misinterpreting his comments. "I am disappointed. Media did not like me; I also did not like them. They have caused damage to the country," he said.
