Kolkata: Crime Branch Unit of Delhi Police has registered a case against Kolkata Police for submitting forged documents in a case involving Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP from West Bengal Abhishek Banerjee. It is being told that this case has been registered on the basis of the complaint of Enforcement Directorate (ED). According to sources, some documents of TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee have been found to be fake, for which the order was from Kolkata Police.

Let us tell you that the investigating agency had summoned TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee to Delhi for questioning in a money laundering case related to the coal scam in West Bengal. Abhishek Banerjee's wife was also called by the ED for questioning. In March this year, after an eight-hour-long interrogation by the ED, Abhishek Banerjee had claimed that the BJP was misusing the ED, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax Department against opposition parties.

Let us inform that the investigating agency has registered the case on the basis of the November 2020 FIR registered by the CBI under the provisions of PMLA. In this, coal theft worth crores was made related to the mines of Eastern Coalfields Limited in Kunustoria and Kajora areas of Asansol and its adjoining state. Local coal operator Anoop Manjhi alias Lala is said to be the prime suspect in this case. The probe agency had claimed that the TMC MPs were the beneficiaries of the money received from this illegal business. However, the MP has denied all the allegations.
