Massive fire breaks out a mill in Raigad, got controlled after hard work

Raigad: A major fire broke out late Wednesday night at Guru Nanak Saw Mill at Maldhakka Road in Kotwali area. A person living in the neighbourhood who witnessed the fire in the mill informed the control room. The fire brigade, which arrived at the scene, managed to control the fire after about an hour and a half. About 28 thousand litres of water was used by five fire tenders during the period. Though it started raining during the fire, the fire brigade was also eased.

According to reports, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Manjeet Singh's Guru Nanak Saw Mill is on Maldhakka Road. Girdhar Khemka, who lives in the neighborhood watching smoke coming out of the mill at around 10p on Wednesday night, reported it to toll-free number 112. The Kotwali police and the city army fire brigade were informed from there. In a short while, fire brigade vehicles rushed to the spot and efforts to extinguish the fire began. By then, however, the fire had spread badly.

At the same time, the owner of the mill said that the place where the fire broke out was with tree shells and panel frames and ready-to-doors. The fire is feared to spread rapidly due to the fire. Five fire brigade vehicles were forced to work hard to put out the fire. The fire was brought under control after about an hour and a half due to rain. A short circuit is feared to be behind the fire.
