Moscow: Reports of a major fire at a Russian chemical plant are emerging. According to reports, 16 people have died in the accident so far. The fire broke out at a plant southeast of Moscow, where explosives, as well as weapons, are manufactured. Several people were also reported missing in the accident.

Several videos related to the horrific incident are going viral on Russian social media. We can see several vehicles on fire at a factory in Lesnoye village in the forest, 300 kilometres from Moscow. The Emergency Ministry issued a statement on the incident, saying 17 people were injured in the fire. One has been admitted to the hospital, while not much information has been received about 9 people.

Earlier, it was said that a fire could be caused due to a violation of technical procedures and safety measures at the PGUP Elastic Factory in the Ryazan region. According to the plant's website, it produces industrial explosives for civilian use, but also manufactures ammunition for the defence sector as well as gas generators for submarines.
