Lucknow: Polling for the first phase of Panchayat elections has begun in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, in Gorakhpur, two groups clashed and the situation came under fire. The case pertains to Mishraulia village in the Khajani police station area where two-gram pradhan candidates were thrashed late on Wednesday night and three rounds were fired.

According to police, two-gram pradhan candidates started beating up at Around 10 pm on Wednesday at Gram Sabha Mishraulia under Mahua Dabur police post in the Khajani police station area. Meanwhile, a supporter fired three rounds, one of which hit the prime ministerial candidate and former chief Raghavendra Dubey, 50. The injured prime candidate was brought to a medical college where he is undergoing treatment. Their condition is serious. At present, police have detained outgoing gram pradhan Shambhu Yadav, the second prime ministerial candidate on suspicion, and are being questioned.

Supporters of outgoing chief Shambhu Yadav were reportedly campaigning. He reached the house of a supporter of Raghavendra Dubey, where the hearing took place. Shambhu Yadav's supporters then left the bike. In no time someone reported that the bike had been vandalized. Shambhu Yadav and Raghavendra Dubey then came face to face. The two main candidates were being beaten up when someone fired three rounds. Meanwhile, a bullet hit Raghavendra Dubey and he fell to the ground in a pool of blood. He has been admitted to a medical college in a hurry. Police are investigating the entire case.
