Pyongyang: North Korea has confirmed the first case of coronavirus infection and has also announced a nationwide lockdown. This lockdown has been dubbed a 'Serious Emergency' by dictator Kim Jong Un. Earlier, North Korea had so far refused to accept that no case of the corona has been found in it. But, now the case of the infection itself has been confirmed and restrictions have also been announced.

However, some reports claimed that there had been a lot of cases of corona infection in North Korea in the past. According to the Korean Central News Agency, the patient found in Pyongyang had symptoms of fever and the omicron BA.2 variant has been confirmed after investigation.  Kim Jong Un had called a meeting of senior officials on Thursday and then announced a lockdown to deal with the corona crisis. Kim Jong Un has ordered that lockdowns are imposed in all cities and restrictions should be followed.

However, the details of what restrictions have been imposed on Korean nationals have not yet been revealed. While announcing the lockdown, Kim Jong Un has assured the country's victory from the corona infection.   "We will recover from the situations that have arisen and we will win over it soon.''
