Ujjain: Commemorating the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the inaugural 'Rakhi' ceremony took place on Wednesday in the precincts of the Baba Mahakaleshwar temple, situated in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The ceremonial act included a solemn Bhasma Aarti and the distribution of 'laddoos' amongst the devotees present.

A long-standing tradition was observed as the first Rakhi was reverently fastened onto the divine idol of Lord Mahakal, a manifestation of Lord Shiva himself. Adding to the sanctity of the event, the revered 'Panchamrit' Abhishek ritual was conducted at 3:00 am earlier today.

Following the consecrated 'Panchamrit' Abhishek, a ceremonial application of sacred ash (Bhasma) adorned Baba Mahakal. Subsequently, the Rakhi was tied to the deity amidst this occasion, while devotees received the blessed laddoos as offerings. The ceremony was further elevated by the performance of the Bhasma Aarti. The congregation of devotees swelled within the precincts of the Baba Mahakaleshwar temple to partake in these rituals.

Raksha Bandhan stands as a jubilant festival honoring the cherished bond between siblings, specifically brothers and sisters. The festivities have enveloped the entire nation in exuberance, with celebrations resonating far and wide. Notably, in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, schoolgirls symbolically tied Rakhis onto the wrists of CRPF Jawans as a gesture of appreciation and solidarity. Meanwhile, in the Samba district of the same region, BSF Jawans joined in the celebrations of Raksha Bandhan, sharing its spirit with school children.
