Bilaspur: After the lockdown issued by the government, around 10 thousand fishermen are facing a crisis of livelihood. The fish business has come to a standstill due to negligible demand in the market. Despite the glut of fish in Gobind Sagar and other places, the faces of the fishermen have wilted. There is not much demand for fish even in local markets. In Bilaspur itself, the livelihood of about 2500 families runs from the fish business. Their economy has deteriorated due to lockdown and curfew.

Due to the lockdown, fish production from the lake had been stalled for the last one and a half months which has been started by the district administration on 20 April. Seven centres have been built for fishing in the district. In which the fish of Bhakra centre is sent to Punjab. Shimla, Una, Kangra, Mandi, Dharamshala and Solan are sent from other centres.

After the lockdown, the fishermen of the district have broken their back due to complete stoppage of fish production from the lake. There is a lot of fish in the water, but there is a famine for the families of the fishermen to eat and drink. Saraj Akhtar, Aneem, Danish, Mukesh say that the government should announce a package for fishermen across the state. For fishermen on the lines of farmers, the state government should also directly deposit the relief amount in the bank accounts. With which the financial system of the fishermen's family can be improved. Till March 31 the rates of fish were good, but the lockdown ended.
