New Delhi: Today, a high level meeting to be hosted by the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in which she will be having a discussion with her Sri Lankan counterpart Mangala Samarweera to solve the fishermen issue.
It has been claimed by the fishermen belonged to Sri Lankan North that, “their livelihood is affected due to the bottom trawling practiced by Indian fishermen and their poaching into Sri Lankan territory”.
President Maithripala Srisena and Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe raised the issue during the meetings, which was held in last month with the India Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
