Firozabad: A sub-divisional magistrate and four other state government employees have been suspended in connection with an illegal land sale and allocation scandal in Sirsaganj tehsil. The action was taken on Wednesday under the orders of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The suspended officials include SDM Vivek Rajput, Naib Tehsildar Naveen Kumar, Revenue Inspector Mukesh Kumar Singh, accountant Abhilash Singh, and SDM's reader Pramod Shakya. The district magistrate has been directed to file an FIR against the accused and initiate departmental proceedings against them.

The controversy centers on an incident in June 2024, when SDM Vivek Rajput, while handling a case related to a large plot of land in Rudhaini village, overturned a lower court's decision and issued a new ruling. Within five days of this ruling, the land was irregularly transferred to residents from Rajput's home district and other close relatives, allegedly misusing his official authority.

Pramod Shakya, Rajput's reader, was also suspended for his role in managing documents related to the land transfer.

Additionally, the state's vigilance department has been instructed to investigate any potential disproportionate assets held by the implicated officials, following recommendations from the investigative committee.

Naib Tehsildar Naveen Kumar and Revenue Inspector Mukesh Kumar Singh were suspended by the Revenue Board for allegedly abusing their positions to facilitate land acquisitions, violating Government Servant Conduct Rules.

Accountant Abhilash Singh was suspended following an investigation into allegations of land grabbing and crop destruction. He was found guilty in the probe, which led to orders for both departmental action and the filing of an FIR against him.
