Woman Arrested at IGI Airport with 34 Cocaine Capsules Swallowed in Stomach

New Delhi: Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport have apprehended a woman arriving from Angola with 34 capsules of cocaine concealed in her stomach. The seized cocaine, with a market value of approximately Rs 7 crore, was discovered on July 2 after the woman arrived in Delhi from Doha.

According to the customs department, the woman was flagged for inspection, and during a personal search, eight oval capsules were found. She later admitted to swallowing additional capsules containing narcotic substances. Consequently, she was taken to Safdarjung Hospital for medical intervention.

At the hospital, a total of 34 capsules were extracted from her stomach, with the cocaine weighing around 515 grams, valued at Rs 7.04 crore. The woman has been arrested, and the cocaine has been confiscated.

In a separate incident, an Indian man was detained at the same airport on July 6 for allegedly smuggling marijuana. Arriving from Bangkok via Sharjah, the man was found with 2.4 kg of marijuana hidden in his luggage. The seized marijuana is estimated to be worth Rs 1.2 crore. The man has been arrested and the drug has been seized by customs officials.
