Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Tuesday that 5 more Yatri Niwas will come up for the Shri Amarnathji Yatra.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha , who is also the chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board told reporters on the sidelines of an official function in Jammu that new Yatri Niwas will come up at Baltal, Nunwan Camp and one at entry point to Kashmir. "This will help accommodate pilgrims and facilitate them smoothly. A road from Chandanwari to Baltal is also underway.

"Detailed project reports of the road stretch will be completed soon. The road will save the time of pilgrims and help more devotees have a glimpse of the holy Shiv Lingam at the cave shrine of Amarnath," Lt Governor said.

Hardeep Singh Puri, Union minister for housing and urban development Development said his ministry will endorse all the Yatri Niwas suggested by the UT administration.

The Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his gratitude to Shri Amarnath ji's followers, the Shrine Board's staff, all parties involved in the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, and the residents of the Jammu region for the start of the Yatri Niwas' construction.

"I am incredibly appreciative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Hon'ble Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri ji for establishing the Yatri Niwas in Jammu for the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board. According to the Lt. Governor, this new facility would make life easier for followers making the yearly pilgrimage to Baba Amarnath.

The Lt Governor thanked the Union Petroleum Minister for approving 4-5 more Yatri Niwas for Baba Shri Amarnath Ji's devotees as part of CSR initiatives. He remarked that the Seva performed by pilgrims on their holy journey was quite admirable.  He also thanked Sh Arun Kumar Singh, Chairman of ONGC, and praised the ONGC Board of Directors for their exceptional assistance in realising the vision of Yatri Niwas and Disaster Management Centre in Jammu.

Significance of Shri Amarnathji Yatra: The Shri Amarnathji Yatra is a revered pilgrimage journey that holds profound significance for devotees of Lord Shiva. Nestled in the magnificent Himalayan mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, the sacred Amarnath Cave stands as a testament to the divine presence. Every year, millions of devotees from all corners of the globe embark on this spiritual expedition, filled with unwavering faith and devotion.

The journey to the Amarnath Cave is arduous yet rewarding, requiring endurance and determination. Pilgrims traverse through breathtaking landscapes, scaling steep mountains, and crossing treacherous terrains, all in pursuit of seeking blessings from the ice-formed lingam, a natural manifestation of Lord Shiva. The Yatra commences during the auspicious month of Shravan, as devotees begin their expedition from the picturesque town of Pahalgam or the serene Baltal.
