It’s been a month since the inception of Mahakumbh on 13th January 2025. With 15 days more, the event is expected to attract a massive surge in visitors. The three Amrit Snans have already been concluded on Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya and Basant Panchami. Another important Snan was held on Magh Purnima.

On the occasion of Magh Purnima on Wednesday alone, nearly two crore devotees took the holy dip in the sacred waters in Prayagraj. The population of the city is around 60 lakhs, and the devotees reaching on Magh Purnima were four times to this number. The visitors from far off places took the holy dip with chants of spiritual hymns and bhajans.

Even though there has been a major mishap in Prayagraj when a stampede occurred at the Sangam nose on Triveni ghat, the administration has done excellent work managing the traffic and security at the event. As we have witnessed the peaceful commencement of the snan on Magh Purnima without any stampede, panic or chaos.

In the last one month, the Mahakumbh has attracted a massive 50 crore visitors, making it the largest spiritual gathering in the world. It not only includes the common people, but also India’s PM, President, dignitaries and delegation from all over the world, political leaders, celebrities, the overall sections of the society. This figure speaks for itself, as no other country in the world, except for India and China has this huge population. The kind of gathering is one of a kind, something really unimaginable and unbelievable. Because, if you get on to add the population of World’s 119 countries, that together forms a population of 50 crores. Even the combined populations of USA and Canada does not reach this count.

After the stampede, the Uttar Pradesh Government came up with stricter and more organized traffic arrangements as well as efficient crowd control scrapping the VIP culture. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself monitored the situation closely on the snan schedules of Basant Panchami and Maghi Amavasya. It has been known that the CM ensured a close watch since the midnight. The DGP of Uttar Pradesh Prashant Kumar, Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad and other senior officials have been managing it all smoothly in Prayag.

The challenging situations have posed all throughout. Not only the surging crowd at the Sangam, there was another significant challenge of the moving crowd of devotees from states of Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar among others. Followed with the devotees heading towards Ayodhya to offer prayers at the newly established Ram temple, as well as at the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, again a massive footfall.

Less than a fortnight left for its commencement, let us see at what figure does the Mahakumbh concludes! The estimated target of 40 crore has already been surpassed, with a massive spillover of devotees.
