Patna: Around 6 lakh 36 thousand population of 10 districts of Bihar have been affected by the floods and 18,612 people have been taken to safer places. According to information received from the Disaster Management Department, about 6 lakh 36 thousand population of 282 panchayats of 55 blocks of the district of Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Supaul, Kishanganj, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, East Champaran, West Champaran, and Khagaria district have been flooded. 18,612 people evacuated from there have been given shelter in 10 relief camps.

According to the information received from the Ministry of Water Resources, the Bagmati River in Sitamadhi, Muzaffarpur, and Darbhanga, Budhi Gandak in Muzaffarpur and Samastipur, Kamla Balan in Madhubani, Lalbakia in East Champaran, Adhwara Sitamarhi, Khiroi in Darbhanga and Mahananda in Kishanganj and Purnea districts has reached the mark. Water Resources Minister Sanjay Jha said that all the embankments are safe after heavy rains in July and due to the use of technology and additional vigilance of the department, the dangers on the embankment can be avoided in time. 21 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in various sensitive districts of the state in view of the flood crisis in Bihar. Commandant of 9th Battalion of NDRF Vijay Sinha has said that on the demand of the Bihar State Disaster Management Ministry, 21 teams of NDRF have been deployed in 12 districts of the state. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has completed a tour of flood-affected areas of Darbhanga and Madhubani districts on Wednesday.

Tejashwi has told reporters, "It is the responsibility of the government to provide shelter and food to the flood victims and should have given financial assistance to them in view of their loss due to floods". Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi hit out at Tejashwi, accusing him of trying to wash away the sins of the RJD Raj by clicking pictures while giving a one-time meal to some of the flood victims, whose flood relief scam of Rs 90 crore has been done under the rule of his parents.'

Sushil attacked Tejashwi by tweeting that he should read the CAG report, which described how the fraudulent amount of Rs 90 crore of Bihar's flood assistance from the Central Government was done.
