Dense fog engulfs north India, visibility in Bathinda rises to 0

New Delhi: Severe cold has started in many states of North India. In many states, people are facing problems due to fog in the morning, and many trains are running late. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of dense to very dense fog in Punjab, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh on December 22. The fog may decrease after tomorrow.

The satellite imagery shows a layer of dense fog across Punjab and northwest Rajasthan to northern parts of Haryana, west UP, and eastern UP. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), 50 meters visibility was recorded in Amritsar, 0 meters in Bathinda, 25 meters in Patiala and Chandigarh, 50 meters in Ambala, 25 in Ganganagar, 50 in Churu, 25 in Bareilly, 50 meters in Bahraich, 25 meters in Gorakhpur and 200 meters in Palam and Safdarjung in Delhi.

At the same time, the coldest weather started in Kashmir and Ladakh from December 21. Rivers, streams, and waterfalls have frozen in Ladakh. At the same time, lakes, rivers, and drains have started accumulating in Srinagar. Ladakh and Kashmir have not received much snowfall yet, but due to the temperature reaching minus, rivers and streams have started freezing. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Srinagar today is likely to be -4 degrees and the maximum temperature is likely to be 12 degrees.
