Indore Food and Drug Administration conducted an intensive investigation of foodstuff establishments in the city on Friday. It was as per the instructions of Collector Manish Singh, under the “Freedom from Adulteration Campaign”, that the investigation was conducted.
Under the campaign, during the investigation on Thursday, a micro-examination was conducted under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006. The team inspected Kapil Enterprises, a spice-maker firm based in Kandeel Pura. During the inspection, a total of 4 samples of chilli powder, cinnamon and garam masala samples were taken for investigation. Also, on the basis of the possibility of not having the quality level, food items cinnamon about 2 quintals total price Rs 40,000 and foods Chilli powder total quantity 6 quintals total price Rs 75,000 were seized till further action. The food items found in the establishment, black salt powder, total quantity of 3 quintals, the total price was about Rs 7500 and chilli weighing 50 kg and total worth is about Rs 6000.
A correction notice was issued under section 32 of the Act to rectify deficiencies found in the establishment. Porwal Spices at Chhota Bangada Road Hamal Colony was inspected by another team and a total of four samples of spices like turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder, garlic powder were taken from the establishment and foods like chilli powder 1.5 quintal total Price Rs 15,000 and turmeric powder, the total quantity of 2 quintals, the total price of Rs 22, 000 was seized.
