Chuni Goswami, the great footballer of India, died. Indian football team captain Chuni Goswami, who won the 1962 Asian Games gold medal, died on Thursday due to a heart attack. He was 82 years old. He was also a great cricketer and also led the Bengal team in the Ranji Trophy.

Chuni Goswami was born in Kishoreganj district of Bengal, which is now in Bangladesh. His real name was Subimal Goswami but he has been known only as Chuni Goswami. He used to represent Mohun Bagan. He has represented India in 50 international matches between 1956 and 1964. It was under his leadership that India won a gold medal in the 1962 Asian Games. He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1963 and the Padma Shri in 1983.

For your information, let us tell you that Chuni Goswami adopted her second love cricket after saying goodbye to football at the age of 30. He took part in 46 first class matches for Bengal from 1962 to 1973. Under his leadership, the Bengal team also reached the Ranji Trophy final in 1971-72, where they lost to Mumbai.
