Lucknow: In Sonbhadra, the forest department will occupy about 2 lakh hectares of land. This process of taking land will be done village-wise. This process is to be completed in 433 villages. Records are being scrutinized for this. Forest Department officials said that soon the revenue and forest department team will start a joint survey of the spot.
In July, 11 people were killed in a land dispute in Sonbhadra. Taking this incident seriously, the Yogi government issued an order to take the necessary steps to end the disputes at the root.

According to sources, on the investigation, it was revealed that in the 90s, 146104.483 hectares in the Obra division of Sonbhadra and 102338.37 lakh hectares in Renukoot division were notified under Section 4 of the Indian Forest Act. After the hearing, this land was finally to be registered as forest land under Section-20 of the Act, but till date, only 45517.152 hectares of land was brought under Section-20 action. That is, till now the process of taking possession of 202925.701 hectares of land under Section-20 has not been completed, where this land is located in 433-gram panchayat areas.

Till the forest department does not take possession of this land, then all the people will keep claiming it. These claims can become the reason for a quarrel between them. Therefore, the government has instructed the officials of the forest department to check the opportunity with the local officials of the revenue department for the proceedings of section 20. Law and order problems may arise when this action starts in all the villages simultaneously, so it has been decided that the possession proceedings will be started considering one gram panchayat as a unit in each tehsil.

What is Section-4 and Section-20: Under Section-4 of the Indian Forest Act, the government expresses its intention to include land in the forest area. Under Section 20 of the Act, that land is finally declared as forest area.
