Former BJP MLA's Wife Killed in Bomb Blast in Manipur's Kangpokpi District

Imphal: Tragedy struck in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Saturday evening when a bomb exploded at a house adjacent to that of former BJP MLA Yamthong Haokip, resulting in the death of his wife, Sapam Charubala.

According to officials, the bomb blast occurred at a residence close to Haokip’s home. Sapam Charubala, who was Haokip's second wife, sustained severe injuries in the explosion. She was immediately transported to a nearby health facility in Saikul for medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff, she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.

Former MLA Yamthong Haokip was present at his residence during the incident but was fortunately unharmed. The nature of the blast and the motives behind it remain unclear at this time.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Police are working to determine the perpetrators and the reasons behind the attack, as well as to identify any possible links to ongoing conflicts or personal grievances in the region.
