Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has been hospitalized due to a respiratory illness and urinary tract infection, according to statements from Dr. C N Manjunath, a cardiologist who also happens to be Deve Gowda’s son-in-law. The 90-year-old leader had been grappling with a fever and cough, in addition to the urinary tract infection, over the past three days.

In response to his deteriorating health condition, Deve Gowda was swiftly admitted to Manipal Hospital, located on Old Airport Road in Bengaluru, on Thursday morning. Dr. Manjunath revealed that Deve Gowda had been under treatment at home with antibiotics and cough suppressants but required more intensive medical attention.

"He was being treated at home for the last three days with antibiotics and cough suppressants. He is stable, there is nothing to worry about; he will probably stay in the hospital for a couple of days and then be sent home," Dr. Manjunath assured.

Currently, Deve Gowda is receiving specialized care at Manipal Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment with antibiotics and fever medicine. This treatment aims to address both his viral lung infection and bacterial urinary tract infection. Dr. Satyanarayana Mysore is overseeing his treatment regimen to ensure the former Prime Minister's swift recovery.
