Launching an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Janata Dal (Secular) chief HD Deve Gowda on Monday alleged that he is trying to suppress regional parties by misusing institutions. Deve Gowda described Chandrababu Naidu as the bold leader to stand against the misrule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “He is not only fighting against the misuse and weakening of the institutions by the Modi government but is also bringing many parties together. Naidu is eligible to become the Prime Minister of this country. It may be mentioned that Naidu had already declared his lack of interest on PM seat.

"In Karnataka, my two grandsons are contesting elections. Nearly 24 raids have been conducted. Even today, more than 300 officers are on search operations. Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are also facing similar conditions. In West Bengal, Mamata is being harassed," he said. He also lashed out at the Election Commission for its partisan attitude towards the anti-BJP parties. “Never before EC has shifted so many officials over a drop of a hat. People are getting a feeling that the EC and the BJP government are conniving against the states ruled by the opposition,” he lamented at a media interaction earlier in the day.
