Former PM Manmohan Singh admitted to AIIMS Delhi

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has tested positive for Covid-19. He is admitted to the trauma center of All India Institute of Medical Science in Delhi. According to information received, Singh was admitted to AIIMS Delhi on Monday, earlier, in May last year as well he complained of chest pain because of which he was admitted in hospital. 

The veteran Congress leader in year 2009 was operated for a redo bypass cardiac surgery by cardiovascular thoracic surgeon and vice-chairman of the Asian Heart Institute, Dr Ramakant Panda. After the news of Manmohan Singh came to light senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wished the former PM a “speedy recovery”. He also took it to Twitter handle writing “Dear Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji, Wishing you a speedy recovery. India needs your guidance and advice in this difficult time.” Simultaneously, Senior leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor said, “Sorry to hear this. Wishing Dr ManMohan Singh a speedy & complete recovery. He has become the conscience-keeper of the nation in these challenging times. We all need him to be well.”

Manmohan Singh also wrote a letter suggesting PM Modi for fighting COVID-19 on Monday. He emphasised on the need to ramp up the vaccination effort. The letter read that “The key to our fight against Covid-19 must be ramping up the vaccination effort. We must resist the temptation to look at the absolute numbers being vaccinated, and focus instead on the percentage of the population vaccinated.”
