New Delhi: Former Prime Minister and economist Manmohan Singh has been repeatedly cursing the central government for the poor condition of the economy from time to time. Once again, he has attacked the Modi government. The former PM cautioned the government that the Modi government should focus on tackling the current economic challenges facing the country rather than being in the news headlines. While interviewing a newspaper, former PM Dr. Singh said that we cannot deny that the country is facing an economic crisis.

Already, a lot of time has passed. The time has come for the government to undertake structural reforms of the next generation, instead of using political power in vain or making historical mistakes like demonetization in the approach of taking different measures to provide relief to each region. Manmohan Singh said that it is important to remember that this is a government which has got a huge mandate, not once but twice in a row. When I became finance minister or prime minister, we did not get such a big mandate.

Despite this, we have achieved a lot of achievements and successfully pulled the country out of the 1991 crisis and the 2008 global financial crisis. Dr. Singh said that the government needs to deal with the issue in a transparent manner, listen to the views of experts and all stakeholders with an open mind and express a strong intention to deal with the crisis. He said, 'The government should show confidence in the people and give a message to the whole world. Unfortunately, I have not yet seen any such solution from the Modi government. Please tell that Manmohan Singh has been in the post from RBI Governor to Finance Minister.
