New Delhi:- After the Belgian Grand Prix, the Formula 1 team is enjoying a well-deserved summer break in August after a packed schedule that saw them compete in 12 races in just 21 weeks. However, the extended summer break could confuse new fans of the sport as F1 often has large gaps between races. Summer break may seem a bit boring to F1 viewers because it takes place between races, but it's really a mandatory part of the sport's laws, with dire consequences for teams that don't comply.

The 14-day shutdown period, set forth in Article 21.8 of the FIA ​​F1 Sporting Rules, sets limits on various activities. These restrictions include a ban on the design or further development of vehicles, as well as a ban on only manufacturing or preparing parts for automobiles.

After the final Grand Prix in July, all F1 teams and their factories must take a 14-day break. Article 21.8 of the Sports Regulations states that a 14-day stoppage of competition is required during July and/or August.

During the shutdown, no new vehicles will be developed, designed or manufactured. Instead, only essential plant operations can continue to run the group until the 14 days are up. Wind tunnel operations have been suspended, but normal maintenance and repairs are still allowed. Departments such as marketing, legal and finance that do not directly affect the vehicle's performance can continue to operate as normal.

F1 will take a break during the summer so Grand Prix racers can spend time with their families. As teams rush to finish their vehicles for the next season over the holiday and New Year holidays, pre-season testing takes place in February and the season kicks off in March. After starting in January, the calendar travels around the world until the end of the year in November or December.

F1's summer break has arrived so everyone from team bosses to mechanics can spend two weeks at home with family midway through the season. There is no fixed time when teams have to take a summer break, however, the typical rest period is from August 14 to August 28. For next week's first event, the cars will have to be returned to the manufacturer immediately after the final race.

The importance of the summer break for Formula 1 drivers cannot be underestimated. The break was first established when the F1 calendar began with 20 events a year. Indeed, drivers can finally spend time with family and friends over the holidays after completing a post-race team briefing and any media or marketing duties.

The highly anticipated 2023 Formula 1 season will continue after the summer break with the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort from August 25 to 27. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, to be held from 24 to 26 May 11, will be the culmination of these 10 races, which will begin at the event.

Breakdown i.e. a day off for all F1 teams is mandatory as it is mentioned in the FIA ​​rule book and also affects some of their events and the teams are also banned from working on the car for 14 days.
