Vijayawada: On Tuesday, four coaches of the Vijayawada - Machilipatnam passenger train were derailed near Vadlamannadu in Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh after it ran over cattle on the tracks. According to the sources, no injuries were reported in the incident.

As stated in the reports, the train possibly ran over a buffalo on the rail tracks, due to which the accident occurred. Railway authorities said that the train mishap had occurred due to the presence of cattle on the railway tracks. 

According to the Central Railway official, the incident occurred when train no. 77215 Vijayawada – Machilipatnam passenger express ran over cattle near Vadlamannadu railway station between Pedana and Kavutharam Railway station at around 6:35 pm today. The mishap took place on Gudivada-Machilipatnam Section.

Following the incident, two trains were cancelled for Tuesday - 77220 Machilipatnam-Gudivada Passenger and 77219 Gudivada-Machilipatnam Passenger. Train no. 77215 Vijayawada-Machilipatnam was partially cancelled between Vadlamannadu and Machilipatnam on May 14. The Railways also rescheduled three trains for the day.
