A snowstorm swept over areas of the US East Coast over the weekend, killing at least four people.On Saturday, three of the deceased were discovered in the snow next to their shovels on Long Island, New York, while an elderly lady was discovered dead inside her car overnight in Uniondale, also on Long Island, media roported.

On Saturday, at least a foot of snow fell in nine states, ranging from Maryland to Maine, with the heaviest abundance amount near the coast. With 23.6 inches of snowfall on Saturday, Boston was in the crosshairs of the winter storm, which set a new record for single-day snowfall. On Sunday, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced that cleanup operations are well underway and that schools would reopen on Monday.

According to the power outage tracking website poweroutage.us, more than 11,000 homes in Massachusetts were still without power as of Sunday evening. According to data from flight-tracking website FlightAware.com, the total number of flight cancellations inside, into, or out of the United States reached roughly 1,500 on Sunday evening.

More than 2,600 flights originating in the United States were cancelled. A bomb cyclone that erupted on Saturday caused the snowfall.
