Ahmedabad: Former Gujarat CM Madhav Singh Solanki has passed away tragically. He was a prominent leader of the Congress and he had been the CM of Gujarat four times. He breathed his last on Saturday at the age of 94. Madhav Singh Solanki was born on 30 July 1927. He was born in a Koli family, Solanki was considered a veteran Congress leader. He was also the Foreign Minister of India.
Madhav Singh Solanki, who came to power using Gujarat's political and caste equations, is considered the father of KHAM theory. KHAM means Kshatriya, Harijan, Adivasi and Muslim. In the 1980s, he combined these four classes together and came to power with a thumping majority. This equation of Madhav Singh Solanki excluded the forward castes from the power of Gujarat for many years.
