Fourth Year of AB-HWCs: Week-long celebrations to begin today

New Delhi: To honour the fourth anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs), the Union Health Ministry will hold a week-long event under "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" from today, April 16 to April 22.

Manshuk Mandaviya, the Minister of Health & Family Welfare, held several meetings with health ministers and top officials from all states and union territories to review the status of the AB-HWCs and teleconsultation services' operationalization, gave advice on preparations and encouraged suggestions for the celebrations.

The launch of the Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) and Public Health Management Cadre (PHMC) guidelines will also be part of the celebrations. Yoga sessions will be held in all AB-HWCs on April 17 under the title "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" to highlight the integration of health and wellness in service delivery at AB-HWCs.

Block Health Melas will be inaugurated across the country on the third day, April 18, in at least one block in each district of the State/UT. Each Block Health Mela would last one day, and depending on the number of districts in the State/UT, each block in the State/UT would be covered by April 30. From April 18 to 22, more than 1 lakh AB-HWCs will host Block Level Health Melas.

Melas will provide tuberculosis (TB) screening, hypertension, diabetes screening, basic health care services including medications and diagnostics, and teleconsultation with required health specialists.
